Mexico coach Juan Carlos Osorio has praised Javier Hernandez following the striker’s move from Manchester United to Bayer Leverkusen.
Hernandez was deemed surplus to requirements by Louis van Gaal in the summer and he was eventually sold to Bayer.
The forward has gone on to score 19 goals in 22 appearances for the German side and he has won two Bundesliga Player of the Month awards. Osorio believes Hernandez made exactly the right move for his career.
“Already when he was Manchester United and Real Madrid, I always thought that he has to quality to be a finisher,” Osorio said.
“There are several good goal getters who can score great goals, and he belongs to the top category in the world.
“He now shows what he can do. He is a predator in front of the goal.
“I never doubted him, but you have to achieve [a scoring rate] in such a strong league. It’s fantastic, I hope can continue his run, also for the national team.”
Hernandez was a firm fans’ favourite at United and it has been painful to see him flourishing for another team, particularly considering the current problems that Louis van Gaal has up top.
Unfortunately, Hernandez wasn’t able to settle for a place on the substitute’s bench this term. Van Gaal has shown this season that he is unwilling to drop Wayne Rooney and Hernandez would have found it difficult even if he had displayed good form. Van Gaal has to live with the decision as he prepares for the clash against Liverpool this weekend.
