Michael Carrick revels in victory over Liverpool among Manchester United fans

by Ben Topliss

Michael Carrick has praised his Manchester United teammates following their 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Man United were second best for large parts of the game but Wayne Rooney struck late on to seal a Premier League double over Liverpool.

Carrick, who was injured for the clash, joined Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo in the away stand at Anfield and he was delighted with what he saw:

It was fantastic to see some of United’s players mingling with the travelling fans and it was even more satisfying to see Rooney smash in the winner.

Louis van Gaal has taken his fair share of flak over the course of the campaign but he has now secured four straight league wins over Liverpool.

Whether or not United build on the win remains to be seen but, for now, supporters will rightly revel in the good feeling that a victory over Liverpool brings.
