Chelsea have offered Leicester City a player-plus-cash deal for rumoured Manchester United target Riyad Mahrez, according to Marca.
According to the report, Chelsea bid £15m and threw winger Christian Atsu into the mix in order to sweeten the deal.
21-year-old Atsu, who is said to be a target for Spanish side Levante, recently returned from a disappointing loan spell at Bournemouth.
Mahrez insisted earlier this month that he is not looking to leave Leicester in the January transfer window and it is unlikely that the club would accept £15m for a player who has been exceptional for them this term.
There will inevitably be a scramble for Mahrez in the summer if he continues to impress.
Man United would be wise to do all they can to sign the Algerian, as he would go a long way to providing the “speed and creativity” that Louis van Gaal’s side have been crying out for over the course of the campaign.
