Manchester United fans have expressed their sympathy towards Victor Valdes as the Spaniard closes in on a move to Standard Liege.
The former Barcelona keeper, who has been frozen out at Man United following a disagreement with Louis van Gaal, tweeted on Thursday to thank fans for their support.
Valdes’ time at Old Trafford has been a disaster from start to finish and the majority of United fans criticised van Gaal’s treatment of him:
@PeoplesPerson_ Good for the player…great for both clubs. He'll be finally out of his misery.

@PeoplesPerson_ Deserves to be at a better club but glad he finally gets to be free of his situation.

@PeoplesPerson_ a disgusting treatment to a well respected footballer. Very disrespectful for the supposed "Biggest club in the world"

@PeoplesPerson_ lack of professionalism from both sides. Should never have refused to play but LVG shouldn't have chucked him under the bus.

It’s safe to say that fans are just keen for Valdes to move on as quickly as possible so all parties involved can draw a line under the affair.
The keeper is rightly regarded as one of the most talented players of his generation and it has been a shame to see his United career pan out in the way it has.
