Jose Mourinho’s agent refutes claim of letter to Manchester United about becoming manager

Jose Mourinho‘s agent Jorge Mendes has completely refuted claims the Portuguese manager penned a six-page letter to Manchester United explaining why he should be given the job.

Miguel Delay of The Independent said Mourinho had written the letter to document how much he wanted the position and how he would adhere to the principles and values of Man United’s history and ethos.

On the contrary, Mendes has slammed the claims as ridiculous and in a statement on his own website he said: “It does not occur to anyone that a coach like Jose Mourinho can write letters to clubs offering their services.”

It really wouldn’t surprise me if Mourinho did send this letter to United as it is the sort of thing he has done previously, as Side Lowe explains here:

For me, I don’t want Mourinho because I feel he wouldn’t be the right man to restore our identity as a club but the longer Louis van Gaal continues as manager, the more I just want anybody bar him in the hot seat. It’s reached the point of no return as far as I am concerned and is now a case of when and not if he is relieved of his duties, whether that is by his own choice or by being sacked remains to be seen.

Is Mourinho the person who is going to take united forward? We’re all fully aware that he has always wanted the United job but it remains to be seen what happens with van Gaal. Until there is progress in that department, Mourinho can only dream of calling Old Trafford his home.
