Victor Valdes is in Belgium tonight watching Standard Liege take on Gent having completed his loan move from Manchester United.
He is sitting alongside ex-Belgium international defender Daniel van Buyten who played for Standard Liege between 1999 and 2001, where he made 56 appearances.
This is the first photo confirmation of Valdes being in Belgium. At this moment in time there has been no picture of Valdes with his new shirt but we’re expecting to see that tomorrow.

Valdes also seems to have grown a jet black head of hair in his time off. At least all that free time wasn’t in vain.
Interestingly enough, there hasn’t been unanimous support for Valdes’ arrival at Liege. Ex-goalkeeper Wim de Coninck has questioned why no other club has snapped Valdes up earlier and questioned whether his fitness might still be a problem, while others have asked why Liege needed to replace their promising goalkeeper Guillaume Hubert.
Overall, Valdes will be welcomed to Liege with open arms and I’m sure he’ll be looking forward to playing some regular football again himself.
