Victor Valdes‘ move to Standard Liege was confirmed this weekend and the goalkeeper has said he is ‘very proud’ to have joined the Belgian club.
The 34-year-old is now in Belgium having completed his move and is likely to go straight into their squad to face Leuven away on Saturday.
Writing on his Twitter account, Valdes said: “I’m very proud to be part of Standard de Liege ! #coyr”
It’ll be interesting to watch how Valdes gets on out on loan at Standard Liege. He never really had the chance to cement himself as our No.1 because of how good David de Gea was, so I’m keen to see if he can replicate the sort of form he showed for years at Barcelona.
If he does, Standard Liege will be quids in at having a World Cup winner in their squad. From Man United’s perspective, that’s exactly what we want to happen as well because it means he won’t be short of clubs who are interested in signing him come the summer when his loan expires.
