Guillem Balague: There is ‘no chance’ of James Rodriguez going to Manchester United

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague believes there is “no chance” of Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez moving to Manchester United.

James has struggled for first team opportunities at Madrid this term and there were rumours that Man United were keen on making a move for him.

However, Balague rubbished the rumours and also poured cold water on reports that Sevilla’s Ever Banega is on United’s radar.

“There is no chance of James going in January and Sevilla are saying they know nothing about Manchester United when it comes to Ever Banega,” Balague wrote in his Sky Sports column.

Madrid reportedly paid €80m for James in 2014 and it is unlikely that they would allow him to leave so soon after his arrival, particularly as the Spanish club were recently hit by a transfer ban.

It is clear that United are on the lookout for a marquee signing, with Gareth Bale, Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo also linked with moves to Old Trafford. However, supporters would prefer if internal dealings at the club were dealt with first as Louis van Gaal continues to feel the pressure.
