Gareth Bale’s agent rubbishes Manchester United rumours

Gareth Bale’s agent has rubbished rumours that the Welshman ‘seriously considered’ a move to Manchester United before being put off amid the turmoil at the club.

Reports this week suggested that the Real Madrid forward was keen on a move to Man United after the club had made a £100m bid last summer.

However, the 26-year-old’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, denied the rumours and insisted that Bale is focused on the task at hand at Madrid.

“The story is complete rubbish. We have never even discussed it,” Barnett said.

Of course, it is unlikely that Barnett would ever publicly admit that Bale did consider a move to United as it wouldn’t paint him in a positive light among fans at Madrid.

United are clearly in for the Welshman but you can’t blame Bale for being put off by the current state of affairs at Old Trafford. Louis van Gaal is under huge pressure, the team lacks a clear identity and there doesn’t seem to be a coherent strategy in place at the club.
