Former Chelsea keeper Mark Schwarzer believes that Manchester United would thrive if they appointed Jose Mourinho as manager.
Louis van Gaal is currently under huge pressure at Man United following the 1-0 loss against Southampton last time out.
Mourinho, who was sacked by Chelsea earlier this term, reportedly wrote a letter to Man United this month which detailed how he would guide the club back to success. Schwarzer urged United to sign Mourinho while he is still available.
“His experience, his knowledge of the game and his understanding of the Premier League, which van Gaal has only had for the last 18 months, would be invaluable to United,” Schwarzer said.
“Mourinho has proven time and time again wherever he has been that he has brought almost immediate success to clubs. His record speaks for itself. If it is not Manchester United before the end of the season, or at the end of the season, there will be another world-class team knocking on his door trying to get his signature.”
Mourinho is a proven, world-class manager who has won trophies at every team he has managed.
His reputation took a hit this season but Schwarzer is right in saying that his record speaks for itself. United are stagnating under van Gaal’s leadership and, while there may be a question mark over Mourinho’s character, there is no doubt that the Portuguese would get the club back among the elite of world football.
