Victor Valdes sends parting shot to Louis van Gaal and Manchester United

by Sam Peoples

Victor Valdes has sent a parting shot to Louis van Gaal after completing his first appearance on loan at Standard Liege.

The Spaniard played the full 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet in Liege’s 2-0 win over Leuven in front of just over 7,000 fans.

It was the first time in over eight months that Valdes played senior competitive football and in a message to his followers on Twitter, he made sure people remembered what happened at United under van Gaal.

He wrote: “Happy for first Win for Standard! and for play after 8 months working alone. Thanks to the Standard Supporters !”

While I do feel van Gaal was extremely harsh in his treatment of Valdes, his passive aggressive messages throughout the season when it was all going on, and this message after his Liege debut, indicate to me he is a far from innocent party in all of this.

I’m so glad this Valdes/van Gaal situation is behind the club now because it was embarrassing. Now that Valdes has squeezed in the last word, hopefully this is the end of it. Valdes should probably concentrate on what is ahead of him now instead of looking back at what has already happened.
