Manchester United keen on signing a new right back today

Manchester United’s current injury problems at right-back may force them into the market on transfer deadline day, reports the Manchester Evening News.

With Matteo Darmian currently out injured and both Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young also sidelined, right-back is a position where Man United have very little options right now.

Guillermo Varela‘s breakthrough has given Louis van Gaal more food for thought but the MEN believes a new right-back on loan is the only deal United are looking into on deadline day.

Had Varela not emerged when he did, I’d expect a new right-back to be a far grater priority than it is because we would have no natural right-back fit at all in the squad. Paddy McNair would likely be our only option.

As for what right-backs van Gaal could look at, your guess is as good as ours but because it’s now Transfer Deadline Day, any team would be able to hold United to ransom given that there is so little time left before the window slams shut.

Darmian is easily our first choice right-back in the squad when fit but could that change if another one is brought in by van Gaal to strengthen his squad?
