Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has rubbished suggestions that Barcelona are considering a move for Manchester United’s Juan Mata.
Reports on Monday claimed that Barcelona are preparing a summer move for Mata and that the two parties had met for initial talks in recent months.
Mata is said to be happy in Manchester but that he also has reservations over the long-term future of the club. However, Balague dismissed the rumours:
Rubbish story of the day: the rumours about Mata. He is staying put, doesn't want to go, United don't want to sell at all

Mata’s form hasn’t been the best as of late and he has found himself on the substitute’s bench more often than not.
However, United don’t exactly have a surplus of creative players and letting Mata go would leave an already short squad even thinner.
You get the sense that Mata needs to find his true role in this United team and the hope is that he will begin to flourish once the club strengthens in key areas. Mata has been playing on the right and, although he has been doing a good job, it is clear that it is not his natural position.
