An anonymous club has made an offer ‘worth millions’ for Barcelona forward and rumoured Manchester United target Neymar, according to the player’s father.
In a report from Catalunya Radio, Neymar’s father, who is also his agent, revealed the offer before appearing before a magistrate to testify in the ongoing investigation into the details of Neymar Jr’s transfer to Barcelona from Santos in 2013.
The unnamed club is said to be willing to pay Neymar considerably more than he currently earns at the Nou Camp.
However, Neymar Snr insisted that his son has always wanted to play alongside Lionel Messi at Barcelona and that he wants to sign a new contract at the Spanish club.
It is a big claim from Neymar’s father but it may also be a negotiation tactic as the two parties continue to hammer out the details over a new deal.
Neymar has legal issues in Spain but it is unlikely that he would want to leave Barcelona, a team that consistently challenges for trophies at the highest level, for United, who are a team firmly in a rebuilding stage.
