Mourinho, who gave Morata his Real Madrid debut at the age of 18 back in 2010, is said to be a keen admirer of the Spaniard.
Morata enjoyed an encouraging campaign for Juventus last term, helping the Old Lady win the Serie A title and reach the Champions League final, but he has seen his game time restricted this time around due to the form of Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic.
Madrid agreed a €32m buy-back option for Morata when they sold him to Juventus in 2014 and it is thought that they will exercise the clause and then immediately sell him on – for an €18m profit.
Man United will face competition from Liverpool for his signature, however.
United’s struggles up top this season have been well documented and Morata would go a long way to solving that problem. However, with the emergence of Anthony Martial this term, supporters will hope any new arrivals do not stunt his development.
