The BBC revealed Mourinho’s representatives have been in talks with Man United this week and those reports are yet to be denied by the club, in stark contrast to the Pep Guardiola rumours which were quickly quashed.
Gianluca di Marzio has also supported those claims by saying talks have taken place as have lots of other media outlets including The Independent.
The general consensus is that if Louis van Gaal was going to be sacked this season it would have happened already but it is only the start of February and his job is far from secure at the moment.
Mourinho becoming United manager has already split the fanbase before he has even been appointed but with the club in desperate need of a new boss and direction, especially after Guardiola’s appointment, Jose is the man considered favourite to take over from van Gaal.
Now that United have won two games on the trot there is less pressure on van Gaal but it hasn’t changed too much of the overall picture. He won’t be manager next year and the question to ask is whether he will be replaced in the summer or before the end of the season.
