Pep Guardiola has revealed that he first spoke to Manchester City in “May or June” of last year before the club confirmed he would be moving there from next season.
Guardiola confirmed his intention to leave Bayern Munich last year, to be replaced by Carlo Ancelotti.
Speculation had been rife as to where his destination was, with Manchester United among those said to be interested in the Spaniard. However, City stole a march on their rivals by revealing that Guardiola will be their next manager this week.

Various reports suggested Man United knew that City was Guardiola’s destination and they have been proved right.
Louis van Gaal has been under pressure this season and the hope was that Guardiola would be there to take over in the event of the Dutchman’s sacking.
Jose Mourinho and Ryan Giggs have now been left as the front-runners for the position, with rumours this week suggesting United have already agreed a deal with the former.
