A frustrated and disappointed Ryan Giggs in the dugout at Stamford Bridge summed up how all Manchester United fans are feeling after that 1-1 draw with Chelsea.
Man United’s sloppy last 20 minutes gave Chelsea the impetus to attack and they took advantage of some poor play from Memphis Depay to run down the other end and score an undeserved equaliser.
In a weekend where Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Leicester City all won, it halted United’s momentum which we built up after beating Stoke City away and puts a dampener on what would otherwise have been an excellent week for the club on the pitch.
The most frustrating thing of all was that it was completely self-inflicted. We had the game by the scruff of the neck but got sloppy in possession and let Chelsea get back into the game.
Had we slowed the game down and taken more control of the ball, we could have seen the final minutes of the game out and come away with a morale boosting 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge, a ground we have only won at a couple of times in the last 13 years.
All in all, United’s players and fans will be bitterly frustrated and disappointed with that draw because it was 100% two points dropped instead of one point gained.
