Barcelona director of football Robert Fernandez has insisted Neymar is very happy and relaxed with life at the Nou Camp.
The Brazilian has been linked with a move to Old Trafford after Neymar Sr revealed Manchester United offered a bid of £140m for the 24-year-old in the summer.
Fernandez put to bed uncertainty over Neymar’s future in Spain and believes they’re confident of extending his contract.
Talking to Marca Fernandez said:”Neymar and his management are very happy and we are very relaxed.
“The club stands by the player. These things happen and we shouldn’t dwell on it.”
With Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez alongside him, Neymar is part of football’s best attacking force so he’s got every reason to be happy in that respect. Barcelona are once again playing the sort of football which made an unbeatable force under Pep Guardiola back in 2010/11 and Neymar is a key part of that.
From Man United’s perspective, I really hope we stop going after players like Neymar – players who are happy at their clubs and have no intention of leaving. We can’t waste more time this summer chasing unattainable targets like Thomas Muller only to be left empty handed at the end of it.
Is Neymar driven by money? If so, then United have a way in but for the time being we have to focus on the right transfer targets rather than simply looking at blockbuster marquee signings to please sponsors (looking at you, Ed Woodward).
