Robert Lewandowski’s agent has confirmed the Polish striker has entered talks with Bayern Munich over a new contract.
The 27-year-old has been linked with a possible move to Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain with Real Madrid currently favourites to land the forward.
He’s been in spectacular form and has scored 27 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions for Bayern this season, so it’s no surprise to see him linked with a whole host of clubs.
However, Cezary Kucharski revealed the club have already started negotiations over a new contract
“Yes, we have started talking [about a new contract]. I can confirm this,” Kucharski told Polsat Sport.
“Today Lewandowski is in a team that suits him and there is no need to change anything.”
Just like trying to prise Thomas Muller way from Bayern Munich, Lewandowski is one of their best players and although he isn’t a local Bavarian boy like Muller, Bayern would be extremely unlikely to sign unless for an offer which simply couldn’t be refused.
United are certainly in need of a new striker and it would be foolish to not think about a move for Lewandowski but if I am honest I’d rather we made Anthony Martial our out and out striker alongside Wayne Rooney in a formation with two strikers.
Lewandowski’s a great player but United must avoid the trap of chasing shadows in the summer transfer window and there is every chance a pursuit of Lewandowski could waste a lot of time with no end result.
