Manchester United vs Stoke: Old Trafford was alive again

by Sam Peoples

After so much difficult football to watch at Old Trafford this season, Manchester United’s convincing 3-0 win over Stoke City on Tuesday was something for fans to really smile about.

And thanks to the guys over at Thomas Cook Sport, we were able to enjoy a match-day experience package for it which beats getting the train back home or staying in the IBIS Budget Hotel if you’ve got to stay over.

We got into Manchester early in the afternoon and headed over to the hotel on Deansgate. Not a bad view at all is it, and the room was great too.

After dropping our bags off, we went to Old Trafford early doors because it was the Munich memorial game and we wanted to pay our respects under the Munich plaque:

As for the game itself, the seats were mint and the football was even better. Anthony Martial in full flow is a real sight to behold and it’s so easy to see the Cristiano Ronaldo comparisons. Defenders were scared to go near him in case they were embarrassed and left flat footed by the tricky Frenchman.

It was a different type of football than what we’ve been playing so far this year because Stoke actually had more possession than us but we were so much better in attack. That was the United we know and love.

After the game, we headed back into Deansgate to have a couple of drinks before going back to the hotel for the night. Had a cracking night’s sleep, least not for the fact we smashed Stoke 3-0 and actually looked like United again.

In the morning, we had a great breakfast and made our way over to Old Trafford because we were in for a real treat. We were lucky enough to visit the AON Training Complex, meet Andy Cole, meet the whole first-team (and Louis van Gaal) and watch the players train.

We’ll be publishing an article on that superb experience soon and want to thank Thomas Cook Sport for making it possible..
