Michael Carrick believes Manchester United just need to string a run of games together if they want to be considered as title contenders.
Louis van Gaal‘s side are sat in fifth place in the Barclay’s Premier League after drawing to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge over the weekend and are currently 13 points behind Leicester City at the top of the table.
Despite that, Carrick hasn’t given up on the chance to win of winning the title.
Speaking about it, Carrick said: “Can we win the title? I think we can. I believe we can. I’m realistic to understand where we are and the situation, but as games tick by, if we keep winning then we give ourselves a chance.
“If we don’t keep winning, then the chance falls by the wayside. It’s up to us carry on the form we’ve showed over the last couple of games and build on that.”
It’s not outside the realms of possibility and is mathematically but for United to win the title from this position, we’d need multiple teams above to all falter at the same time. The odds are certainly stacked against us.
United can’t be ruled out right now because we are still to play every team above us in the Premier League table but it really is hard to see us winning it, even if we can’t statistically be ruled out yet.
