All three were taken off during the bumper 7-0 win over Norwich City and seeing as it was his first game back from a previous injury, it’s all very repetitive for Jones.
As well as providing an update on that trio, van Gaal said he was unsure on when Bastian Schweinsteiger was returning and said he had been given a holiday as it is a longer than expected injury.

“It’s not looking good because I also let my players play in the second team and various players were injured again,” van Gaal told MUTV.
“They’re not very nasty injuries but I still have to give them time to recover.
“It is a big pity because Jones is a very good central defender and we are missing him and also Marcos Rojo for a long time already.
“I cannot say Bastian is returning within two weeks because I have given him, more or less, a little holiday as he also has to change his mindset. It’s good for players. I have done that also with Antonio Valencia, Marcos Rojo and Luke Shaw, for example, when you are injured for longer than normal.”
Injuries have plagued United’s season and Schweinsteiger being sidelined for quite some time is definitely worrying because the German midfielder had a horrible season last year due to injuries.
I think an injury to Varela is the one which could cause issues as Matteo Darmian has only just returned from injury himself and if he is sidelined too then we’d be stuck without a natural right-back.
Here’s hoping our injury problems don’t continue to get worse because if we are going to make a push for the top four spots, we’ll need our full squad.
