Confirmed starting XI: Sunderland vs Manchester United

by Ben Topliss

Manchester United: De Gea; Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Borthwick-Jackson; Schneiderlin, Carrick; Lingard, Mata, Martial; Rooney

Subs: Romero, Love, Weir, Pereira, Herrera, Memphis, Keane

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has made one change to his side for the game against Sunderland this afternoon, with Morgan Schneiderlin coming in for Marouane Fellaini.

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson lines up at left-back once again, while Jesse Lingard also keeps his place having scored against Chelsea last time out.

Will Keane makes the substitute’s bench after scoring five against Norwich for the U21s this week.

He is joined by Andreas Pereira, Donald Love and James Weir in what is a youthful looking bench.

Chelsea snatched a draw at Stamford Bridge last week and United will be keen to return to winning ways against Sunderland. Van Gaal’s side are in serious danger of missing out on the top four and anything less than three points would be unacceptable against the Black Cats.
