Manchester United have appointed former Ajax scout Henny de Regt as part of their ongoing developments of the academy system.
De Regt has joined Man United immediately alongside Derek Langley who is seemingly remaining as the head of youth recruitment at the club.
The announcement comes the day after Nick Butt was named as the new head of academy which was long overdue following the departure of Brian McClair who left the role in 2014.
After so much stagnation in our academy over the last couple of years, it’s good to finally see some movement and progression going on behind the scenes.
De Regt certainly has a great track record having been with Ajax for almost two decades in that role and it’s hoped he will bring that sort of expertise into United’s recruitment of youngsters.
Although he is Dutch, de Regt’s appointment is believed to have nothing to do with Louis van Gaal.
