Wayne Rooney has not travelled with Manchester United’s squad for Thursday night’s Europa League clash with FC Midtjylland.
His absence is yet to be explained but it’s more than likely a decision in order to give him a few days off more than anything else, unless he has picked up an injury in training.
For Will Keane, it presents an excellent opportunity in a match I’d love to see him get a chance. The 23-year-old has been in prolific form for Man United’s U21s and deserves the chance to show what he can do with the first-team.

Alternatively, it could mean we see Anthony Martial get a run-out in his favoured centre-forward position with Memphis Depay out on the left.
All in all, Rooney being left at home shouldn’t affect United’s chances against FC Midtjylland too much because we’ve got more than enough in the squad to cope with his absence.
We’ll hear more confirmed team news from Louis van Gaal later this evening during his press conference for the Midtjylland game.
