FC Midtjylland coach Jess Thorup doesn’t believe it matters who Manchester United start in their fixture tomorrow because of the magnitude of the game for the Danish side.
It’s not often that Man United come to town and the fact our travelling fans were charged £71 for tickets shows how important it is for Midtjylland to cash in on the match.
Due to that, Midtjylland will be fired up for the game from the first whistle and Thorup is under no iluusions it could be one of the biggest games the Danish club will ever play.
Speaking about the game, Thorup said: “Honestly, I don’t say what kind of players they come with. We talk about ourselves.
“It could be the biggest game for the players and the club but for me it doesn’t matter who United play with tomorrow.
“It’s about how we perform and give a good response for the club and for Danish football.
“I saw couple of hours ago the squad and a lot of guys will talk about Rooney and (Marouane) Fellaini missing, but again it is more about how we are go into the game tomorrow.
“It doesn’t matter which players, young or old, United put on the pitch, we have to be at our best and 100 per cent to have a chance.”
We should be going into this game pretty much confident of the three points. We’re playing a Danish side who haven’t had a competitive game since the middle of December and who got spanked 9-1 over both games in the group stage by Napoli.
Yet, we’re not. There’s an element of trepidation going into it as we all know something could happen. We shouldn’t have that and I hope that isn’t how the players feel as it would be reflected in how they play.
Tonight simply has to be a win for United but there’s no chance Midtjylland are going to let it be an easy one for van Gaal’s men.
