Manchester United fans were delighted with Sergio Romero‘s performance between the sticks, despite the result, in their side’s 2-1 defeat against FC Midtjylland on Thursday night in the Europa League.
The Argentine’s inclusion, which only came after David De Gea was injured in the warm up, initially concerned Man United fans, who were understandably worried at the prospect of such a shaky goalkeeper going up against a physically imposing team.
United fans were, however, pleasantly surprised by Romero’s imperious performance in goal; he made three crucial saves to keep his side in the tie:
Unbelievable save. Romero stretches to his left to push away Onuachu's header.

Despite such a poor defeat, Romero ought to be pleased with the way he performed tonight. With widespread scrutiny from all corners of the United fan-base bearing over him, as well as being called up on such short notice, he handled the pressure magnificently.
Midtjylland fans actually started to celebrate on two occasions after two headers looked destined to fly past Romero. To everyone’s surprise, though, the 28-year-old kept the Danish champions at bay, and consequently keeping this tie in the balance.
