Jose Mourinho and Manchester United. It’s a match most fans want to see and over this weekend we’ve seen plenty of developments in the story.
Following Bedy Moratti saying Mourinho would be moving to Manchester when asked by reporters on Saturday, the latest from Samuel Luckhurst at the Manchester Evening News suggests a gentleman’s agreement is already in place.
This is far from the first reports of a ‘done deal’ of sorts already being agreed in the background but as for a gentleman’s agreement, in an ever-changing world of football would that be enough for anyone to be confident of something? After all, verbal agreements are just that – verbal only, far from binding.
Samuel Luckhurst is the reporter behind this development, take from that what you will, but it’s just another suggestion that something is going on behind the scenes while us fans sit and wait for some sort of official announcement. It’s certainly one monumental polar shift from Luckhurst in a short space of time after he labelled the Mourinho rumours as nonsense less than three weeks ago.
There’s been no official movement from United to deny or confirm the Mourinho rumours like they did with Pep Guardiola but Bedy Moratti’s comments have stirred excitement as we all wait with baited breath.
Van Gaal will not be United’s manager next summer. Will it be Mourinho? I hope so, most fans hope so and everything continues towards that being the next step for us.
