Bastian Schweinsteiger congratulates Manchester United teammates after win against Shrewsbury

by Ben Topliss

Bastian Schweinsteiger has congratulated his Manchester United teammates following the 3-0 FA Cup win at Shrewsbury on Monday.

Man United convincingly advanced to the next round of the competition thanks to goals from Chris Smalling, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard.

Schweinsteiger, currently sidelined with a knee injury, was full of praise for his teammates following the clash:

Ander Herrera and Morgan Schneiderlin started in midfield in Schweinsteiger’s absence and the pair did well.

Herrera’s ball for Lingard’s goal, in particular, was brilliantly done. It was an encouraging display for United amid criticism of their awful form in recent weeks but Shrewsbury provided little by way of resistance over the course of the tie.

Louis van Gaal should still be under the microscope heading into the second leg against FC Midtjylland in the Europa League on Thursday as exiting Europe would be disastrous for the club.
