Louis van Gaal believes Manchester United could have been at the top of the Premier League if they hadn’t been plagued by injuries but in positive news has revealed he expects lots of players to return in March.
United are currently facing an injury crisis with 14 first-team players injured, more than any other team in the league, but it sounds like we’ll have a much better situation in a few weeks time.
“I think in March a lot of players are coming back and then we’ll have a full selection, and with our full selection we were first in the Premier League,” van Gaal told BT Sport.
It’s about time United had some sort of luck with injuries because they really have been terrible all year. It started with Luke Shaw‘s leg break in PSV and has gone downhill ever since, especially in the full-back positions where we hardly have anybody available and have had to rest to giving multiple debuts to youngsters in the absence of any other alternatives.
I think we’ve sorely missed Bastian Schweinsteiger‘s calming presence in midfield at times and Wayne Rooney‘s absence is hurting the team as well. After we play Arsenal at home on Sunday, hopefully we’ll now start to see light at the end of the injury tunnel.
