The Dutchman was oozing confidence and getting fans on the edge of their seat at Old Trafford with what was a scintillating display which rightfully earned him man of the match.
All year long we’ve been waiting for that sort of performance from a player who tore it up in the Eredivisie and tonight was that night.
Louis van Gaal might not be a fan of the risky playing style which Memphis showed but creative players shouldn’t be shackled at United, they should be allowed to express themselves and the team should be set up to make sure that can happen.
As we saw against Midtjylland, that’s what can happen if you let them fly. Well done, Memphis.
