Picture: David de Gea given Man United armband by Juan Mata against Watford

Juan Mata made sure to give the captain’s armband to his Spanish compatriot David de Gea before he went off against Watford.

The Spanish midfielder put in a performance worthy of being Man United captain and it was great to see Dave the get the armband for the last few minutes.

He was equally as impressive in goal. I’m not really sure how Watford didn’t score but the fact we kept a clean sheet was largely down to how good De Gea was in goal.

The summer is going to bring yet more speculation about De Gea and any potential move to Real Madrid which is not going to be enjoyable in the slightest, especially as he’ll more than likely be in the limelight at Euro 2016.

But, for the time being, we can just revel in how good De Gea is for United and how important a player he has become since he joined only a few years ago.

If you fancy staying Dave, you can take the armband from Rooney…
