Guillermo Varela has been called up to the Uruguayan national squad for their upcoming games against Brazil and Peru during the international break at the end of March.
Varela, 22, completely deserves this call-up thanks to his excellent performances on the pitch at right-back.
He’ll be playing the games on the last weekend of March, so he won’t miss any games at all so long as he can return without injury.

Varela has been so refreshing to fans since his breakthrough and I’m not sure a fully fit Matteo Darmian can throw him straight out of the team without question. When that happened earlier this season, Darmian was in good form but I just feel it would be harsh.
I’m delighted for Varela who has now put himself in the limelight. So much so that the Uruguayan manager has decided to take notice and call him up alongside the likes of Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani. It’s a big step in his career.
Zinedine Zidane said Valera had all the attributes needed to be a top player and he’s really started to show that this season. Spot on Zinedine, merci beaucoup.
