Manchester United scouts will be watching Renato Sanches at tonight’s Lisbon Derby according to Record in Portugal.
Although officials are keeping tabs Carvalho and Gaitán, all eyes will be on Sanches who has emerged as one of Europe’s hottest properties this season and has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford.
Sanches only made his debut for Benfica last October having spent the previous season playing for the club’s B team but the Portuguese side are allegedly demanding an initial payment of £31.5million followed by £15.9million in add ons for the youngster’s services.
For those who haven’t seen Sanches in action, the 18-year-old is an extremely rounded midfielder and has been equally as impressive in the UEFA Champions League as he has been in the Portuguese League. He might be 18 but he already plays like a seasoned professional.
Sanches’ agent is Jorge Mendes and we all know he’s Jose Mourinho‘s representative, somebody who United have a long-standing relationship with, so the lines of communication would be quite open in that regard.
Price wise, Portuguese sides are excellent at selling players with large release clauses and it looks like Sanches could be another one of those. With United and other clubs heavily sniffing around, there’s certainly a lot of interest in him and if he goes to Euro 2016 as part of the Portuguese squad, his stock may rise even further.
