Manchester United’s Juan Mata had a day to forget as he was sent off against West Bromwich Albion after just 26 minutes on Sunday.
Mata picked up two unnecessary yellow cards in quick succession, with his second coming after a wild swing at former teammate Darren Fletcher.
It left Man United with an uphill task and they eventually succumbed to a 1-0 defeat thanks to Solomon Rondon’s strike. United fans were disappointed with Mata’s dismissal:
Juan Mata dribbled like Messi at one point lool. I thought the second yellow was card was quite harsh but probably fair overall.

I'd be tempted to investigate Juan Mata for spot fixing. Deliberately got himself booked twice within 2 minutes

The sending off was completely out of character for Mata; it was the first time he had been dismissed in his Premier League career.
The Spaniard saved United with a late winner against Watford in midweek but the blame following the loss against West Brom has to lie with him.
After what had been a positive period for United, they now head into a tricky run of fixtures on the back of an exhausting and disappointing loss.
