Luke Shaw expected to return to Manchester United training next month

Louis van Gaal expects Luke Shaw to return to training next month and could make a first-team return by the end of the season, reports The Telegraph.

Shaw, 20, has been out of action since suffering a horror double leg break away at PSV Eindhoven but his rehabilitation has so far gone to plan which means a place in England’s Euro 2016 squad is a distinct possibility.

Given that the initial diagnosis for Shaw’s injury made a return before the end of the season seem like it wouldn’t happen, it’s amazing news to hear his recovery is going so well that it can be considered.

But on the other hand, United fans would probably rather see Shaw stay out of action until next season in order to give him the best possible chance of a full recovery.

Bringing Shaw back at United in the final weeks of the campaign means he could then find himself on the plane to Euro 2016. Selfishly, I’d prefer it if he didn’t play in it so he’d have another six weeks of personal recovery. That’d be the best way to bring him into next season in the best condition.

Regardless of when it happens, I can’t wait for Shaw to be back. United have desperately missed his endeavour on the left wing and I firmly believe this season could have shaped up differently had his injury not happened in September.
