Slaven Bilic has warned his West Ham United side to be careful of “wounded animal” Manchester United ahead of the FA Cup clash between the two sides on Sunday.
Man United were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool in the Europa League on Thursday in what was the latest in a series of disappointments for Louis van Gaal’s side this term.
West Ham, meanwhile, are enjoying a fine season having climbed up to fifth in the Premier League, one place above United. Bilic believes his side are in for a tough test in the Cup despite United’s poor form.
“We are expecting a good Manchester United side to play in front of their own fans, and we are expecting a better performance from them,” Bilic said.
“Last night, it was not a game you can take as a normal game for United. It was intimidating for them and it is hardy to play that way. United are a wounded animal and we know what to expect on Sunday. They still had good spells against Liverpool and at home, they will be better. They had a great performance against Arsenal at home (on February 28). They are a massive club and have one of the biggest managers in the business.”
West Ham have an excellent record against the top teams this season and it’s hard to imagine United getting past them given their awful performances recently.
It’s depressing that it’s got to that point; where supporters are almost expecting United to lose. How van Gaal is still in a job remains a complete mystery.
