Louis van Gaal has insisted that Manchester United are still in contention for silverware after their 1-1 draw with West Ham United in the FA Cup on Sunday.
Anthony Martial‘s late equaliser means that Man United still remain in contention for the FA Cup, as well as the Europa League and Premier League, although their hopes in all three competitions hang by a thread.
Speaking after the game, the manager was quick to point out that, despite it being highly unlikely, his side can still win some silverware this season.
Van Gaal: 'We are still in three competitions. I have said to Luke Shaw, Wayne Rooney and Young they could still play in the final.' mufc

With United 13 points off top spot in the league, staring down the barrel of defeat in their Europa League tie, and facing a tough replay at Upton Park, discussing silverware is somewhat naive.
Whether Martial’s goal acts as a catalyst for a end of season surge in form remains to be seen.
United’s current level of panache and execution, however, certainly won’t result in any joy for van Gaal’s side come May.
