Manchester United fans were thrilled to see Ander Herrera display some true passion in their side’s 1-1 draw with West Ham United in the FA Cup.
The Spaniard, wrongly left out of the starting XI at Liverpool on Thursday, was a powerful, determined and gutsy beacon of aggression for Man United throughout the tie.
Supporters enthused over Herrera’s diehard commitment to the cause:
Herrera played his soul out.

In light of the disaster at Anfield, perhaps the one thing United fans most wanted to see was passion. It was the manner of United’s defeat against Liverpool that was most scathing; some players, it seemed, retreated into their shells and shrunk on one of the biggest nights of the club’s calendar.
So to see Herrera – who must have watched from the sidelines in dismay on Thursday – give such a rousing, rip-roaring display was truly magnificent and enormously encouraging for the future.
Despite the disappointing result, United fans can be buoyed by the fact that there are players in that squad who understand what it means to wear the shirt.
