Paul Scholes believes West Ham United are favourites going into their FA Cup sixth-round replay with Manchester United.
The two sides drew 1-1 at Old Trafford on Sunday, with Anthony Martial scoring late on to cancel out Dimitri Payet’s free-kick.
The result meant another match will be needed to decide who takes a place in the semi-finals of the Cup. Scholes insisted that West Ham have the upper hand going into the return fixture at Upton Park.
“I think it was important they (United) got some kind of result today and they did that with a draw. I still have to make West Ham slight favourites going to their place,” Scholes said.
“That final bit of quality was just missing but I thought they played alright. They controlled possession like they usually do at Old Trafford and I’m certain the fair result was definitely the draw.”
West Ham have an excellent record against the top teams this term and they showed how much they have improved against Man United on Sunday.
United, on the other hand, have been stagnating under Louis van Gaal for a while. The performance against West Ham was okay, but supporters have come to expect a lot more than okay down the years. They will need a good display at Upton Park to advance to the next round of the Cup.
