Ashley Young is back in training this week with Manchester United ahead of Thursday night’s Europa League showdown with Liverpool.
The 30-year-old winger has been out of action for over two months now since Man United’s 1-0 win over Liverpool back in January when he was replaced early on by Cameron Borthwick-Jackson.
While not the best winger in the world, I think Young coming back is actually going to be a real boost for United because since Juan Mata moved into the No.10 role, we’ve not had a consistent right-winger so it’s good to see him back in training.
I can definitely see Young getting some minutes against Liverpool if he is fit enough to earn a place on the bench. When he’s on form, Young is so good at skipping past full-backs and whipping in dangerous crosses.
If we had Borthwick-Jackson on the overlaps down the left flank with Anthony Martial and Young working with Guillermo Varela on the right, that’s some excellent width and options which could prove vital.
