Here is the latest Manchester United transfer news and gossip.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has praised Manchester United’s David De Gea following his side’s 3-1 aggregate win over Louis van Gaal‘s men in the Europa League, claiming that it was “Liverpool vs De Gea”. The Spaniard made six saves in total, once again saved the Dutchman’s side from embarrassment following a magnificent performance between the sticks.

Rene Meulensteen believes the current side are “nowhere near” the quality of teams such as Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Van Gaal has spent upwards of £250m since his arrival at Man United in 2014 but results on the pitch have been poor.

Man United are set to rekindle their interest in Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain, according to reports. Higuain has enjoyed a superb season in Italy, scoring 27 goals in 29 Serie A appearances this term.

Paul Scholes believes Ryan Giggs has what it takes to replace van Gaal as manager of Man United. Jose Mourinho is said to be the front-runner to take over in the event of van Gaal’s sacking but Scholes, who won a number of trophies during his playing days at United, backed former teammate Giggs to take on the role.
