England consider recalling Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard – report

England boss Roy Hodgson is considering calling up Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard for the upcoming friendlies against Germany and Holland, according to MailOnline.

Hodgson’s plans for the international break have been disrupted by injuries to Manchester City duo Joe Hart and Raheem Sterling.

Tom Heaton has been called up as Hart’s replacement in the squad but Hodgson is yet to make a decision on Sterling.

Lingard impressed in the No.10 position against Manchester City on Sunday, with his direct running and intelligence on the pitch causing the opposition plenty of problems.

The 23-year-old featured in England’s squad for the friendly against France in November of last year.

However, Leicester City’s Marc Albrighton and Newcastle United’s Andros Townsend will also be hopeful of making the squad. Lingard has really taken his chance at Old Trafford this term and it would be good to see him represent his country before hopefully finishing the campaign strongly.
