Manchester United are set to sign Feyenoord youngster Tahith Young, according to Voetbal International in Holland.
The 16-year-old has been linked with Man United for some time but went on record recent months to say he was happy at Feyenoord and wanted to stay there in order to develop.
However, that has clearly changed with the U17s Dutch international now set to make his way to Old Trafford and follow compatriot Timothy Fosu-Mensah in making a move to United as a teenager.
Fosu-Mensah’s rise into the first-team means Chong knows full well that progression at United is a possibility and the U17s Holland and Feyenoord winger will join despite interest from multiple other clubs including Manchester City and Arsenal.
United have taken moves in 2016 to revamp and re-energise the academy set-up at the club. Nicky Butt’s appointment to replace Brian McClair as Head of Academy was long overdue and puts it in a much better condition to move forward.
Chong, 16, will presumably come into our U18s side and work under Paul McGuinness unless he is accelerated into Warren Joyce’s U21s, which does seem somewhat unlikely.
