Here is the latest Manchester United transfer news and gossip.

Real Madrid have shelved plans to sign Manchester United’s David de Gea in the summer, according to Marca. Instead, they plan to offer an improved contract to Keylor Navas, who has been in superb form in-between the sticks for the Spanish side this term.

Man United have refused to comment on rumours that Jose Mourinho has signed a pre-contract agreement to replace Louis van Gaal as manager at Old Trafford at the end of the season. A report from El Pais last week suggested that Mourinho has already signed an agreement to become the next manager of Man United.

Not for the first time, Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio has said Jose Mourinho will be United’s next manager according to his sources. He has, however, said it on camera for the first time:

Juan Mata believes Marcus Rashford is a “great player in the making”. The youngster scored the only goal of the game as the Dutchman’s side beat Manchester City 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. He has now scored five goals in his first eight games for Man United, helping them close the gap on the teams above them in the Premier League.

Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry believes that van Gaal deserves credit for bringing through a number of youngsters at Man United this season. He has shown faith in the likes of Marcus Rashford, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson this term and they have all impressed. Henry praised van Gaal’s willingness to give youth a chance.
