France coach Didier Deschamps believes Anthony Martial has lived up to his hefty price tag at Manchester United this season.
Eyebrows were raised when Man United decided to spend an initial £36m to bring the then-19-year-old Martial to Old Trafford from Monaco in the summer.
However, the youngster has blown all expectations out of the water at United this term, scoring 12 goals in all competitions. Deschamps has been impressed with how Martial has coped since becoming the most expensive teenager in world football.
“Anthony is young but he has confirmed his potential in Manchester despite the weight of the price of his transfer,” Deschamps said.
“He has progressed, he plays a lot. He is young and he is not tired.”
In what has been a season to forget for United, Martial’s performances have been a huge positive to take away from the campaign.
Despite his tender age, he has consistently looked like United’s most dangerous player and the situation would be much worse at the club were it not for his efforts. There is no doubt that he will one day develop into a world-class player.
