Didier Deschamps has praised Anthony Martial’s development at Manchester United and insisted that the youngster is on his way to becoming a regular for the French national side.

Martial has enjoyed a superb debut campaign at Man United, scoring 12 goals in all competitions for Louis van Gaal’s side.

The 20-year-old has been recognised for his efforts by France boss Deschamps, who called him up to his squad ahead of friendlies against Netherlands and Russia over the international break. Deschamps has been impressed with Martial over the course of the campaign.

“He is doing very interesting things with speed and impact. Usually he plays on the left but he can play as centre-forward too,” Deschamps said.

“It’s good, he continues to progress, he comes regularly for the French national team [but] he has a lot of room for improvement.”

Along with David de Gea and Chris Smalling, Martial has consistently put in performances of the highest quality at United this season.

Considering his age and United’s troubles this season, Martial’s impact at Old Trafford has been nothing short of remarkable. There is no doubt whatsoever that he will be a excellent player for club and country for years to come.
