Arsenal legend Thierry Henry believes that Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford could become “an international star of the future”.
Rashford, 18, has burst onto the scene at Man United this season, scoring five goals in eight games since his debut for the club last month.
His latest strike came in the derby against Manchester City as United secured a crucial 1-0 win. Henry insisted that Rashford is an exciting talent but that he needs time to develop.
“I agree with head of academy Nicky Butt that it is far too early for people to dream about Rashford going to the Euros with England in June,” Henry said.
“But if he is given the time and the opportunity to grow, he could become an international star of the future.”
United supporters have seen a number of young players rise to prominence at Old Trafford before fading away, with Federico Macheda springing to mind.
There are fears that the same fate could befall Rashford but the Englishman has something different about him. He has taken all the pressures that have come his way in his stride and he has got his head down and worked hard. The fruits of his labour are there for all to see and there is no reason why he can’t keep his place in the side in the coming months, even with Wayne Rooney soon returning from injury.
