Manchester United have confirmed that the opponents for this summer’s pre-season tour of China are Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City in the International Champions Cup.
Man United will face Dortmund on 22 July in Shanghai Stadium before playing Man City on 25 July in Beijing.
That means we now know Jose Mourinho‘s potential first game in charge of United will be up against Dortmund. The last time he faced the German side a certain Robert Lewandowski produced an unbelievable display to score four goals in a 4-1 Champions League semi-final rout.
As far as the players are concerned, competitive pre-season friendlies are crucial in terms of building up match fitness and the good thing about this tour in China is that it only lasts eight days, which is important because there is also Euro 2016 to think about this summer.
The big question United fans are asking themselves is who will be in charge of United by the time the tour starts this summer: will it be Mourinho, Giggs or will van Gaal still somehow have his job? Time will tell but we now know who Mourinho would face in his first game if he does have the position.
